Singer Yogesh Vaidya died at the age of 77

Yogesh Vaidya, the 77-year-old singer, composer, and lyricist, passed away at 12:30 on Thursday night at Valley Hospital in Sundhara, Kathmandu. Vaidya had long suffered from diabetes.

According to Pradyumna Joshi, secretary of Basu Shashi Memorial Parishad, Yogesh was admitted to the hospital on Thursday evening after suddenly developing a fever and cold.

His son, Locus Nandan Vaidya, offered a light to his father’s body at the funeral service, which was held on Friday at Pashupati Aryaghat in the presence of family members and musicians.

Prior to the funeral at Pashupati Aryaghat, his body was kept for final respect by the Nepal Musicians Association at the Naxal-based Sangeet and Natya Pragya Institute. At the same time, distinguished musicians Shambhujeet Baskota, Chetan Sapkota, Basant Sapkota, Mahesh Khadka, Milan Moktan and many other musicians paid their respects by offering flower garlands.

His songs like ‘Sapna Bhulai Sara’, ‘Mero Aansuma Nahanse’, ‘Nepal Mero Uphaar Bho’ are popular. He has also sung Nepal language songs.
