Rabindra as a Transwoman in ‘Dakini’

The film ‘Dakini’, which is preparing to be screened from Friday, will be released only in limited theaters in Kathmandu and Pokhara. The production company Shatcon Arts has announced that the film will be screened at Labim, Chhaya and Civil Mall halls of QFX in Kathmandu.

Also, this film will be screened at Fcube in Chabahil, CK Cinema in Sitapaila and Midtown Hall in Pokhara. Producer Rabindra Singh Baniya said, “The theaters have been decided with the aim of reaching the target audience. This is not a commercial style film either.” It was not made with the intention of making money. This film, which is said to have been made with an investment of 9 crores, is based on the Dakini myth of Buddhism.

This film has already been screened at world famous festivals including Tribeca, Osaka. Filmed in Panauti and Patan, the premiere of this film has been organized on Friday evening. Director Khinse Norbu is coming to Kathmandu to attend the premiere. The production company Shatcon has organized an art weekend along with the release of the film.

According to this, director Norbu will also conduct a masterclass on Saturday, while a drama and art exhibition has also been organized at Lichchavi House. Meanwhile, on the eve of the release, the Dakini looks of actor Rabindra Singh Baniya have been released. In the film, he will play the role of a transwoman. “This character has been prepared with the intention that transwomen can also be dakinis,” he said.
