‘Bagan’ premiere: Celebrities become emotional

The film ‘Bagan’, which is being prepared for screening, was premiered in Kathmandu on Thursday evening. Artists, well-wishers and politicians were present at the premiere ceremony held at One Cinemas Multiplex in Naya Baneshwor. Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Indira Rana and other guests came to watch the film.

Directors Laxminath Sharma, Naresh Paudyal, Gyanendra Deuja, Nawal Nepal, Shobit Basnet, Rishi Lamichhane, Actors Krishna Malla, Ashok Sharma, Ramesh Upreti, Singers Satya Raj Acharya, Swaroop Raj Acharya, Bikash Rana, Singer Debika Bandana, Sunita Dulal, Actress and Director Deepashree Niraula, Koshi Member of Parliament Meena Shrestha and others were present at the ceremony.

Reacting after watching the film, Deputy Speaker Rana said that there is a lot to be learned from ‘Bagan’. Being a single mother, she said in the film that what her daughter has done for her mother, if her son can also do the same work, the society will be prosperous.

Actress and director Niraula said Bagan was not just a film but a revolution. It takes a big heart to raise such a topic. Saroj Khanal is a good actor as well as a good director,” she said. Her reaction was that the dialogues of the film touched the heart.

Actor Ramesh Upreti said that although it is his nature to cry less, this film made him cry. He praised the story, direction and acting aspect of everyone. The film will show Nepali society the way to change. This film is made with the idea that we all should be able to live happily,” he said.

Singers Debika Bandana and Sunita Dulal praised all the actors including director Saroj Khanal, actress Karishma Manandhar, new heroine Pramila Karki. They said that the film has exposed the challenges of living as a single mother in the society.

Actress Manandhar said that she felt complacent after watching the entire film for the first time. She said, “An artist doesn’t like own work, but I was satisfied after watching Bagan.” The producer has already announced that they will show the film for free to single mothers. The film stars Saroj Khanal, Karishma Manandhar, Pramila Karki along with Aakash Shrestha, Neer Shah, Bashundhara Bhusal and Mithila Sharma. Actor Khanal has made his directorial debut and actress Karki has made her acting debut. Suresh Wagle is the producer and Binod Manandhar is the executive producer.
