Mayor Hark Sampang’s request not to screen ‘Adi Purush’ in Dharan

After Kathmandu and Pokhara metropolitan city, Dharan sub-metropolitan city has also banned the screening of Indian films. Hark Sampang, the mayor of Dharan sub-metropolitan city, has issued a video message saying that he has decided to ban the screening of the film, objecting to the dialogue of ‘Janki (Sita) is the daughter of India’ included in the film ‘Adipurush’. 

“We do not accept any kind of thinking, expression and behavior that harms our country’s nationality, integrity, self-respect and sovereignty,” he said. That is an objectionable subject. Therefore, we have banned the screening of the related film in Dharan cinemas too.’

Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah gave an ultimatum through social media on Thursday to correct the dialogue about Sita included in ‘Adipurush’ in India within three days. However, after the dialogue was not shown, all Hindi films have been stopped in Kathmandu from Monday. The Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality has also banned the screening of Hindi films following the Kathmandu Metropolitan Municipality.
