The nominations for the 11th edition of the NEFTA Awards, which will be held in the United States on Shrawan 6, have been announced. Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav distributed certificates to nominees in 25 categories during a ceremony held at Hotel Solti in Soltimode, Kathmandu on Sunday. The film ‘Chakka Panja 4’ has been nominated in the most 15 categories.
In the category of best film, along with ‘Chakka Panja 4’, ‘Kabaddi 4’ and ‘Aina Jhyalko Putli’, ‘The Secrets of Radha’ and ‘Chiso Manchhe’ are competing. Similarly, Bipin Karki, Dayahang Rai, Deepakraj Giri, Anmol KC and Pradeep Khadka have been nominated for the best actor category, Aruna Karki, Swastima Khadka, Menuka Pradhan, Srishti Shrestha and Miruna Magar are competing in the best actress category.
In the program, Vice President Yadav mentioned that after the republic, Nepali films got an opportunity to spread around the world and discussed the contribution of films in the promotion of constitutional system such as secularism, federalism and inclusiveness. Stating that the Nepali film market and the quality of visual language are developing, he said that the role of awards will be important to further internationalize Nepali films.
Film Development Board Chairman Bhuwan KC, senior filmmakers Neer Shah, Madankrishna Shrestha, Bashundhara Bhushal and other film and music workers were present at the public program of the best 5 nominations. Fame Nepal, US Khabar, Aryan Films are going to award the American version. More than 30 filmmakers from Nepal will go to America to participate in the award.
