Nepal European Union Film Festival will be held in three cities of Nepal

The new edition of Nepal European Film Festival is going to be held in three cities of Nepal. In a press conference held at the Lazimpat office of the Delegation of the European Union to Nepal on Monday in Kathmandu, the Acting Head of the Delegation of the European Union in Nepal, Joel Hivonet, informed that this edition of the festival will be held in three cities of Nepal.

The first phase of the film festival will be held at Sudurpaschim University Mahendranagar from 15th to 17th of Baisakh, the second phase will be held at Midwest University Surkhet from 20th, 21st and 22nd of Baisakh and the third phase will be held at the Hall of Film Development Board in Chabahil, Kathmandu from 29th of Baisakh to 1st of Jestha. The main theme of this edition of the festival is the celebration of human rights for all.

Ambassador of the European Union for Nepal, Nona Deprez, said that the purpose of the festival is to increase the awareness of common people about their rights and to build networks and solidarity to protect the human rights of all. Eight films by renowned European directors and short films made in Nepal will be screened at the festival in three cities.

The film ‘Any Day Now’ directed by Hami Ramezan will be screened at the beginning of the festival in all three places. Likewise, Nepali films produced with the financial support of the Tony Hagen Foundation will also be screened at the festival. These include ‘I Wanted To Be Like Madhuri Dixit’ directed by Ankit Khadgi, ‘Gorkha Girl’ directed by Vishal Rokka Magar and ‘Blues of Pink’ directed by Grisham Giri.

Other films by Nepali youth filmmakers include Minsho Limbu’s Junko, Sunil Pandey’s Baghathan, Poonam Paudel’s Living with Dignity, Deepak Rauniyar’s Four Nights and Deepa Shrestha’s Drifting Clouds. Three European films, Any Day Now, Mitra and Imad’s Childhood will be shown with Nepali subtitles during the festival.

Other films to be screened at the festival include Oscar and Lily (Austria) directed by Aras T. Rihani, Ramona (Spain) by Andre Bagne, Io Stubne (Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany and Italy) by Donato Rotun (Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany and Italy), Imad’s Childhood (Sweden) by Zahabi Sanjvi. , Latvia, Iraq), Invisible directed by Ignas Jonas (Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine, Spain), Dating Amber (Ireland, UK) directed by David Frain and Friends (Netherlands) directed by David Frain.
