The size of ‘Nepali film box office’ is 1 billion 640 millions Nepali rupees

Kathmandu- The size of the Nepali film market (box office) has reached one billion 640 millions Nepali rupees (12 million US dollars). The size of the box office has been determined based on the gross collection of 132 films screened in the year 2079, published by the Film Development Board under the Ministry of Communications.

This figure has been released from the total gross earnings of 46 Nepali films and the remaining foreign films released this year. It can be assumed that the size of the box office has increased by looking at indicators such as the rapid expansion of multiplex halls, the expansion of the film market in Mofsal and the purchasing power of the audience.

Looking at the details released by the board, there are 6 Nepali and four foreign films in the list of 10 highest grossing films. The total earnings of KGF, Pathan, Avatar 2 and Brahmastra come to 450 million Nepali rupees. Nepali films Kabaddi 4, Chhakkapanja 4, Premgeet 3, Mahapurush, Dui Nambari and Phulbari have grossed more than 600 million rupees.

For the first time, the Film Development Board has officially announced the earnings of this year’s films.
