The film ‘Mayor’, which is based on the life struggle of Bharat Kumar Thapa, the Mayor of Bagmati Municipality in Sarlahi, has been auspicious. The ‘lineup’ of artists was also revealed on Wednesday at Narayanhiti Temple in honour of Basant Panchami. The film, directed by Dipendra K. Khanal, stars actor Khagendra Lamichhane and actress Barsha Raut in their first-ever collaboration.
The film, which will be shot in Sarlahi, Bagmati, by Falgun 12, will also feature Arpan Thapa, Anup Baral, Divya Dev, Harihar Sharma, Rabindra Jha, Prakash Ghimire, Ramesh Budhathoki, Sanjog Rasaili, Ashant Sharma, Prabhakar Neupane, and Jhaken BC in supporting roles. In this film, Arvisha Thapa, the daughter of Mayor Thapa, makes her feature debut. Sharmila Pandey and director Khanal’s daughter, Shristima Khanal, are the producers.
Under the Patkatha Production banner, director Khanal is also serving as the film’s executive producer. Jayan J. Waiba and Kalyan Singh will compose the music for the Mahesh Dawadi-penned film, which Krishna Bahadur Thapa will shoot. The film’s director, Khanal, explained that even in the face of adversity and challenges, someone who is driven to make a positive impact on society through good deeds can still lead society in the right direction.
