Alok-Suraj Smriti Award to Shambhujeet Baskota

Kathmandu: The Nepal Music Video Directors Society has given honors and awards to various creators while celebrating its second anniversary.

In a ceremony organized in Kathmandu, the society has awarded Musician Shambhujeet Baskota the ‘Alok-Suraj Smriti Award 2080’ with 11 thousand 111 rupees.

Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Minister Sudan Kirati awarded Baskota. Baskota shot Nepal’s first music video in Nagarkot in 2045.

By directing the first music video in Nepal and starting the journey of music videos, Baskota has been awarded for making an incomparable contribution to the development of Nepali songs, music, and music videos, said Devendra Pandey, the executive president of the society.

Folk singer Prema Raja Mahat was honored with a special honor in the ceremony for his contribution to the field of Nepali song, music and music video, while singer Anand Karki, music video editor Prakash Tuladhar, music video cinematographer Dhiraj Jung Shah, music video director Shankar BC were also honored.

Music video female director Anupa Shrestha, singers Junu Rijal, Prasnna Shakya, and lyricist Prakash Subedi were also honored at the ceremony. Journalist Bijaya Ratna Tuladhar, director Satyaraj Chaulagain, lyricist Hari Upreti, singer Dipesh Shrestha Baidhya, original thali dancer Elijiba Purja Pun, model Suman Khatiwada, singer Nima Pakhrin Lama, singers Palmu Sherpa, Shanti Kumari Shahi, Deepa Rawal, Heet Dawa Lama and Jvin – Jves Shrestha was also honored.

Actors Tej Giri, Sagar Lamsal Bale, Durgesh Thapa, music composer Om Sunar, singers Sajib Singh Rana, Naresh Budhathoki were given honorary membership of the society in the ceremony where Director and Member of the House of Representatives Asim Shah was honored as an honorary member.

Anand Karki, Prashna Shakya, Junu Rijal Kafle, Ramji Khandle enthralled the audience by presenting their famous songs in the ceremony held in coordination with the society’s treasurer Babita Shrestha. Theperformancese of singer-actor Durgesh Thapa, child artist Jevin-Jevish Shrestha was also attractive.

Addressing the ceremony, the society’s general secretary Subrata Acharya said that the tradition of this award was started by awarding the first Nepali music video director Shambhujeet Baskota by establishing an award in the name of those who have contributed to Nepali music videos.
