Film hall operators in court against Balen’s decision

The Nepal Film Association has filed a petition in the High Court against the decision of Balen Shah, Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, to stop the screening of Indian films. Patan High Court Spokesperson Mandira Shahi informed that the petition of the film association was registered on Wednesday afternoon.

Balen Shah, the mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, banned the screening of Indian films in the halls of the Metropolitan City saying that the dialogue of the movie ‘Adipurush’ that Sita is an Indian daughter was not removed.

The film hall owners went to court saying that Balen’s decision was against the law. They have also demanded an interim order to allow Hindi movies to be run in theaters in Kathmandu. The hearing on this writ has been fixed for Thursday.
