Announcement of ‘Halkara’ letter writing competition, cash prize for winner

Nepali film ‘Halkara’ has organized a letter writing competition.

To participate in this competition, you have to write a letter to someone who is far away from your life, someone you want very much, someone you don’t even want, or someone you will always remember. The 3 best letter writers will receive cash prizes.

The first prize is 50,000, the second prize is 30,000 and the third prize is 20,000. The letter should be written on an A4 size sheet of customary white paper and should be sent to Goshwara Post Office, Nepal. The letter should be written in a formal style.

A greeting and closing should be included. More than one sheet may be used if required. The letter should be written in at least 500 to 1000 words.

Any Nepali can send the letter all over Nepal or from abroad. Envelopes and letters must bear your name on any government ID card.

The sender should clearly write his name and address, while the receiver should write ‘Nepali Movie Halkara Pariwar’ and send it to Kathmandu, Nepal, Post Box No. 1414. At the end of the letter, you have to watch the trailer of the movie ‘Halkara’ on YouTube and write the story you understand. The letter should include your name and address along with contact phone number. The identity of the nearest person in Nepal should also be written in the letter sent from abroad.

The judges of this competition are Biplab Pratik (poet and writer), Manojbabu Pant (filmmaker) and Mahesh Tripathi (actor). Excellence will be measured by reviewing the creativity, originality, adherence to theme, grammar and spelling and overall impact of the papers in the competition criteria.

The letter should be sent from 10th to 20th of Baisakh. The award will be announced on Baisakh 25.

Written and directed by Bikram Sapkota, the film stars Mahesh Tripathi, Binita Thapa Magar, Umesh Tamang, Pashupati Rai, Sw. Deepak Chhetri, Vidya Karki and other actors are acting.

This film is being screened from Baisakh 29.

‘Halkara’ was declared the best film at America’s World Fest Houston Film Festival and its lead actor Mahesh won the best actor award.

Similarly, the film was successful in being awarded in the ‘Long Narrative’ category at the Nepal-America Film Festival, while it was selected in other festivals as well.
