KATHMANDU, March 13: The newly elected President of Nepal, Ram Chandra Poudel, is scheduled to be sworn in and sworn in secrecy today.
Under the country’s constitution, the president must be sworn in before taking office.
Poudel won a resounding victory in the elections, obtaining 214 votes from the House of Representatives and 352 votes from the Provincial Assemblies. His closest rival, CPN-UML’s Subhash Chandra Nembang, received far fewer votes.
Poudel’s inauguration is expected to usher in a new era for Nepal, and many are optimistic about his ability to lead the country towards progress and development.
