KATHMANDU, February 15: Lawmakers have demanded investigations and action against those involved in a looting incident that took place in Balaju, Kathmandu on February 13. The looting was carried out taking advantage of a protest movement launched by transport businessmen.
Also through the Spokesperson they called the attention of the government to manage infallible security.
Speaking at zero hours at today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Surya Thapa said that the government should not remain silent on the incident and calls on it to inform parliament about the details of the incident.
Lawmakers Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, Shishir Khanal and Shankar Bhandari demanded a crackdown on those responsible for the incident and compensation for the victims.
Similarly, Gyan Bahadur Shahi drew the attention of the government to manage speedy security in reference to the incident.
Gyanu Basnet Subedi demanded the necessary arrangements so that the farmers get a fair value for their produce. He referred to farmers’ complaints that they could not get a fair value for their produce.
Banita Kumari Singh drew the government’s attention to a delay in the construction of the Postal Highway.
Referring to the cases of suicide that occur on a daily basis, Bishwo Prakash Sharma demanded the creation of mental health awareness and an end to cumbersome administrative services.
Shakti Bahadur Basnet demanded that arrangements be made for government hospitals to provide the government-provided medicines free of charge. He referred to the complaints about government health institutions that lack this type of medicine.
Similarly, Shova Gyawali demanded the repair of a bridge in Bardiya district, while Saraswati Subba called on the government to guarantee accommodation for landless squatters in Kathmandu before evicting them.
Sarita Prasain brought to the attention of the government to address farmers’ complaints about the lack of availability of fertilizers and seeds on time.
In addition, Sarita Bhusal called on the government to provide payments to sugarcane farmers in Nawalparasi district, who have been deprived of their payments for a long time.
Shanti Chaudhary demanded the inclusion of the Sonaha community in Bardiya, Kailali and Kanchanpur districts as minorities, while Sumana Shrestha called for the release of the recently conducted national census report.
Surendra Raj Acharya brought stray animals in Kapilvastu to the attention of the respective sector, and Sobita Gautam shed light on many people who are deprived of affordable loans.
Hitraj Pandey called on the government to complete the pending task of the peace process as soon as possible. Similarly, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki demanded the preservation of the Baraha temple in Sunsari district which is being eroded by the local river. In addition, Santosh Chalise demanded the removal of a checkpoint in Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park as, according to him, local people have to pay entrance fees to reach their villages.
