Kathmandu. Many may not know, Defense Minister Hari Upreti is also a film actor. He played the role of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in ‘Lanka’ directed by Shyam Bhattarai.

Released seven years ago, Rekha Thapa and Kishore Khatiwada had lead roles in this film. Hari, who is also the brother of actor Nikhil Upreti, had a cameo role in ‘Lanka’. He can be seen in the film as a police officer.

Upreti was elected from Sarlahi constituency number 3 from CPN-UML. After getting sick during the election campaign of the House of Representatives, brother Nikhil helped his brother by asking for votes.

Film director Shyam Bhattarai, who lives in Sarlahi, remembers that Hari was cast when he had a good personality and was looking for a popular person at the local level. Director Bhattarai, who is now in America, has congratulated Upreti after becoming the Defense Minister. Bhattarai said that Hari also recorded his scenes himself.

The film was shot in Hariwan, Bagmati area of ​​Sarlahi, which falls under Hari’s constituency. Bhai Nikhil and another artist Ramesh Upreti reached the Ministry of Defense at Singhdarbar on Thursday to congratulate Defense Minister Upreti.
