Kathmandu, March 5

National flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) is preparing to operate direct flights Kathmandu-Seoul, connecting the capitals of Nepal and South Korea.

According to NAC spokesperson Archana Khadka, it has proceeded with the operation of a direct flight from Tribhuvan International Airport to Seoul-based Incheon International Airport in South Korea.

A 10-member security audit sub-committee headed by NAC deputy manager Bikram KC was formed in view of preparations to connect Kathmandu to Seoul via direct flight.

An audit by the Civil Aviation Authority of the South Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is required before the flight operation and the NAC formed its sub-committee to facilitate the audit.

The NAC’s preparation for Kathmandu-Seoul flights is in line with its plan to expand destinations for international services, particularly where there are many Nepali workers.

Ultimately, thanks to the government-to-government Employment Permit System, thousands of Nepalis live and work in Korea at the moment.

NAC international flights are currently available to three destinations in India and another ten in eight countries.
