Yeti Airlines Plane Crash Mystery

KATHMANDU, February 6: The mystery of the crash of Yeti Airlines, which had an accident during the Kathmandu-Pokhara flight on May 1, has been revealed. After the crash of the 9N-ANC ATR plane, the government investigation commission concluded that the propellers of both engines feathered on the base leg of the plane while landing and the accident occurred.
According to the commission, when the engine propellers enter the boom during landing, excessive friction will be generated and the craft will drop like a stone.
However, as to why the propellers for both of the ship’s engines vanished, the commission has proceeded with further investigation into the technical and human aspects.
Yeti Airlines 9N-ANC ATR, carrying 68 passengers with 4 crew members from Kathmandu to Pokhara, had an accident in the Seti River Gorge near Pokhara International Airport on May 1. All 72 people on board died.
Immediately after the accident, the government formed an accident investigation commission. The commission analyzed the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder data at the Transportation Safety Investigation Bureau in Singapore along with studying the facts of the accident and the black box. The coordinator of the Commission, the aviation expert and the member secretary had gone to Singapore. They have returned to Nepal after investigation and analysis.
The commission returned after further studying various technical and flight aspects in the ATR ship simulator in Singapore and came to this conclusion. However, Buddhi Sagar Lamichhane, secretary member of the commission and head of the aviation division at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, said the commission is further investigating the accident.
