Kathmandu, January 27
Experts have said that air accidents have increased in Nepal due to failure to fully comply with the standards set by the government. International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Former Director General of K Nepal Civil Aviation Authority Sanjeev Gautam, then Director General of Aviation Department Birendra Bahadur Deuja and former Engineer Director of Nepal Aviation Corporation Achyutaraj Pahari said that there is a lack of skilled manpower in the country to make its skies safe.
In the meeting of the National Affairs and Coordination Committee under the National Assembly of Parliament on Friday, Pahari said that Nepal’s air service will be safe if the standards set by ICAO are fully followed.
He said that Nepali airlines should also pay special attention to the management of skilled manpower.
Former Director General of Nepal Civil Aviation Authority, Gautam, said that to make Nepal’s air service safe, emphasis should be placed on increasing the efficiency of regulatory bodies. He drew the attention of the government to focus on structural reforms for the safety of air services.
Deuja said that airlines should proceed professionally to make Nepal’s air service safe and reliable.
He made it clear that air accidents can be reduced in Nepal even if we proceed based on the recommendations of the accident report.
