After six years away from the camera, renowned director Nischal Basnet’s return to the big screen with ‘Dimaag Kharab’ has set a rare record with 51 days of theatrical runs. The film, which debuted on Kartik 24, wrapped up its 51st day of screening at Ranjana Cineplex in New Road on Saturday. The cast and crew celebrated the film’s success with a cake-cutting and celebratory gathering in the same hall on Saturday afternoon.
A sequel to “Dimaag Kharab” is scheduled to be released in Dashain 2083. Nischal made this announcement during the program, coinciding with the film breaking the record for the 51st day of its release. “Many have asked whether the sequel will come or not. The sequel to ‘Dimaag Kharab’ will come. Whatever we want to say from this film, the sequel will also be about what we like and will be in the interest of the nation,” he said.
Dayahang Rai’s two films, “Dimaag Kharab” and “Jari,” commemorated this year’s 51st day. Actor Khagendra Lamichhane expressed his happiness that his film had become the first to do so; he believes that this year is good for him. Actress Swastima Khadka also looked happy as the film celebrated its 51st day.
The film’s first two days of release were dreadful, but after positive ‘word of mouth,’ its business took off during the Tihar holidays, and by the 51st day of release, it had made approximately 10 crores in the domestic market. Currently playing in several countries, including America and Australia, the film has been called ‘Mission 84’ by some.
