The Film Directors Society has requested immediate withdrawal of the proposed censorship procedure for the film as it is against the constitution. President Janak Deep Parajuli issued a statement and warned that if they do not withdraw immediately, it may lead to serious consequences.
According to society, the provisions mentioned there will limit the freedom of expression guaranteed by the constitution and the artistic integrity of filmmaking if the recommendations of the relevant bodies are disregarded and the procedure is carried out.
The statement said, “Director Society would like to remind you that the proposed procedure is contrary to the provisions on freedom of thought and expression contained in Article 2 of the Constitution of Nepal.”
The society has condemned the tendency of the ministry to call film-related organizations as witnesses and make voluntary procedures by ignoring the suggestions given by the organizations
