The Kathmandu District Court has allowed eight artists and YouTubers who were arrested for advertising and promoting an online betting platform to be detained for six more days for investigation.
SSP Dan Bahadur Karki, head of district police complex Kathmandu, informed that the court has extended the deadline for investigation. After the expiration of three days earlier, the court allowed an extension of six more days.
The Valley Crime Investigation Office has already said that evidence has been found that those who were arrested on Thursday took between 10 and 40 lakh rupees for online gambling promotion. The police said that they will investigate further.
On Thursday, the Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested comedian Marichman Shrestha (Balchi Dhurve), Pawan Khatiwada (Macuri), Raju Paudel (Raju Master), Saroj Ghimire (Dhedo Budho), Begum Nepali (Bhatbhate Maila) and YouTubers Elish Rai, Jalan Ghartimar ‘Jalan’ and Ganesh Devkota (GD) was arrested.
It was found that one person had illegally traded 64 crores from ‘One X Bet’ through a gang arrested by the police on Wednesday.
