Actress Namrata Sapkota has been declared the best actress. In the third ‘Spiny Babbler International Film Festival 2023’ held on Wednesday, she received the award for the third film ‘Desaan’.
Actor Pradeep Khadka received the best actor award in the program. Khadka got the award for acting in the movie ‘Prakash’.
Director Dinesh Raut, writer Bikas Subedi also received awards for the film ‘Prakash’ in the national film category at the award ceremony held at Rashtriya Nachghar. Darshanveer Shakya, Prasanna Mali, Gyanendra Koirala, Srijana Karki, Gyanendra Khatiwada also presented awards at the ceremony.
Similarly, Gautam Khadka, Kamal Ecchai Magar, Rahul Rai, Rajan Kharel, Luv Pyakurel also received the award. In the international category, Duke Box Ellington (Ireland) won Best Documentary Film, The Road (India) Best Film, Force (Iran) Best Story, The Light Bulb (Venezuela) Best Cinematography. The best director’s award was presented to Azidine Fdel Hadi for Fiddlestreak (Egypt).
The winners were awarded in 14 national and 4 international categories in a total of 18 categories. Youth and Sports Minister Dig Bahadur Limbu, Spiny Movies Pvt. Ltd. Husned Azad, President of Nepal Movie Artists Association Mohan Niraula, President of Producers Association Nawal Khadka, President of Film Directors Association Janakdeep Parajuli, President of Film Journalists Association Sameer Balami, Vice President Kuber Giri, Janak Karki, president of Film Dance Artists Association, Pushkar Acharya, president of Trade Union Congress, Phunuru Sherpa, president of Khumbu Pasang Rural Municipality 1, film journalists Shantipriya, Dabbu Kshatri, Vijayratna Tuladhar, Bharat Bamjan, folk singer Kulendra V.K., filmmakers Rishi Lamichhane, Dinesh Pakhrin, Rishiraj Acharya and others presented the award.
The program director of the festival, Kamala Joshi, said that the festival was organized with the aim of sharing art and culture while making films from the country and abroad compete with each other.
Singer Roshni Rasaili, event manager Santosh Subedi, journalist Baburam Sigdel, singers Om Sunar and Amrit Khati, actresses Asha Bhusal and Usha Khanal were among the judges of the festival. Director Jeevan Thapa, actor Pravan Bhusal, singer Sujata KC, writer Bishmaraj Phulara, music coordinator Rakesh Soni, media person Chakra Kunwar, make-up artist Vikram Gautam, actor and choreographer Ligesh Bhattarai were the jury members.
