From ‘Jingedau’ to ‘Prakash’ will be screened at ‘Nepal Rural Film Festival’

The lineup of films to be screened at the second ‘Nepal Rural Movie Festival’ to be held at Bhakundebesi in Kavre from Friday has been announced. It was informed during a program in Kathmandu on Thursday that 16 films have been selected for the festival. Raghunath Sapkota, president of the organizing organization Celebrity Nepal Foundation, informed that only films made in rural environment were selected for the festival.

In the festival, ‘Jingedau’, ‘Prakash’, ‘Desaan’, ‘Lhui’, ‘Nirmaya’, ‘Charitra’, ‘Afnai Karma’, ‘Meri hajuraama’, ‘Saaita’, ‘Seti Didi’, ‘Kahani Ekadeshko’, Parivartan’, ‘Durgamandu’, ‘Aina’, ‘Hookah’ and ‘Lunga’ will be performed. In the ‘pre-event’ program held on Thursday, certificates were distributed to all the members of the films selected for the festival. The jury team of the festival consists of Rakshasingh Rana, outgoing president of Film Directors Society, actor Subas Gajurel and editor Bharat Regmi.

In the festival, writer and director Dipendra Lama, actress Deeya Pun and principal of Oscar College Ramraja Dahal will give a ‘master class’. Similarly, actors Buddhi Tamang and Mukun Bhusal will interact with the students on the topic ‘Movies through the eyes of rural students’. Organizer Sapkota said that three artists will also be honored at the festival.

The festival will be concluded on Saturday evening with the distribution of awards to the best films. The first edition of the festival, which is to be held in collaboration with the Film Development Board, was held in Laprak, Gorkha in Baisakh last year. This festival was started targeting the audience in rural areas where there is no hall.
