Kathmandu- Kantipur Film Academy has recently been active in film production along with teaching. This year, the feature film ‘Ma’ produced by the Academy garnered appreciation. Along with the feature, the Academy has taken a step towards finding a new market for the film by starting the production of a series targeted at the OTT platform.
As a new project of the Academy, the shooting of the series ‘Brahmand’ is being prepared, in which the actors who have worked in domestic films in recent times will act. Sunil Thapa, Arpan Thapa, Rajan Khatiwada, Maotse Gurung, Sarita Giri, Bholaraj Sapkota and other artists have been signed in it.
Prakash Puri, Executive Officer of the Academy, talked about the preparation of the series, said, “When there is a debate that new markets, audiences and platforms should be found for films, we have taken steps towards this.”
OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hotstar have made the young generation accustomed to watching quality films by making films with new storylines. There are many such viewers in Nepal as well.
Puri informed that preparations are being made to release this series on Nepali and Indian OTT platforms. An agreement is being made with an Indian OTT for release. We will make a formal announcement soon,” he said. Riyaz is writing and directing ‘Brahmand’ while Sagar Raj Acharya is the producer. Purushottam Pradhan of ‘Loot’ fame is filming the series. The total length of the series is said to be eight hours.
Some time ago, the Academy had announced the production of ‘Miss Scarlett’ series in Birganj. The psychological thriller ‘Miss Scarlet’ is currently being edited. According to the Academy, two other mega series are also in the pipeline.
