Kathmandu- The number of films to be released in 2079 has dropped by two times. But it seems that the film’s earnings have increased in the same ratio. A total of 46 films have been screened from Baisakh 1 to Chaitra 24. Before the corona epidemic, this number was above 100 per year.
Even though 46 films were released, the number of hit films can only be counted on the fingers. From the commercial point of view, this year has set a record in Nepali films. Some standards have been created in business. But only 5 films out of 100 could establish themselves at the box office.
The year 2079, which started with the release of ‘Ae Mero Hajur 4’ on 1st Baisakh, ended with the release of ‘Bahav’ on 24th Chaitra. Meanwhile, only a few brand and big banner films that were released could establish themselves at the box office. This year, domestic films were dominated by sequels and only films based on sequels could make an impact at the box office.
The producer has announced that the fourth series of ‘Kabaddi’ directed by Rambabu Gurung has grossed 23.5 million rupees. This is the highest gross earned by any Nepali film so far. Not only in the country, Kabaddi also played a role in expanding the international market with an explosive opening. Kabaddi 4 is estimated to have earned 10 crores from abroad.
‘Chakkapanja 4’ is running in its sixth week. Even after a month and a half, the fourth series of Chakkapanja is making an impact at the box office. Along with this, this film is running house full in foreign countries and it is earning well in many international markets. The film is earning aggressively in shows in America, Middle East, Europe and Asian countries. The professional race of the six-claw is not going to stop any time soon.
Harivansh Acharya starrer ‘Mahapurusha’ is another hit movie of this year. Based on the story of a single man, this film grossed 11 crores domestically. According to the distributor, this film has done well in the international market as well. After the success of this film, the producers are preparing for the production of ‘Mahajatra’.
Pradeep Khadka starrer ‘Premgeet 3’ is another hit movie of this year. The Nepali version of the film opened aggressively nationwide. The Indian distributor released the Hindi version in major international markets including India. Prem Geet 3 is the only film to be released in the world’s biggest multiplexes and chains.
Dayahang Rai and Saugat Malla starrer ‘2 Nambari’ is another hit movie of this year. ‘Phoolbari’ directed by ‘Kabaddi’ fame Rambabu Gurung became another superhit film. Directed by Gyanendra Deuja, ‘Zhingedau’ is one of the preferred and hit films this year. The audience liked this film based on a rural plot. ‘Ke Ghar Ke Dera’ directed by Dipendra K Khanal is another hit movie. Anmol KC and Suhana Thapa starrer ‘Ae Mero Hajur 4’ is another movie released this year. Being a popular brand and artist, it was able to pull the audience to the hall.
Some of the films that shocked the industry include Anmol KC’s ‘Chadke 2’. This gangster movie, which is said to have invested 3 crores, has not even grossed 30 lakhs nationwide. Aims jhyalko putali, Chiso Manchhe, Dokh, Paniphoto, Prakash, Secrets of Radha were liked by critics and audience. “Aina Zhyalko Putli” could even raise investment.
