Amit Pratap Shah, founder president of Mithila Center America and organizer of Mithila Mahotsav America, informed that the works of artists from Nepal, India and America have been selected for the exhibition.
Most of the participating women artists are from remote rural areas and this year the aim is to promote and financially support women’s entrepreneurship, so Shah has requested them to help by buying artworks.
Organized by Mithila Center and Own Foundation USA, Mithila Mahotsav is going to be held in America 2023.
The organizers say that the program will be organized as a continuous effort to promote and display Mithila art and culture, and to demonstrate the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through Mithila art.
In South Asia the Mithila culture has created a distinct cultural identity of its own. Mithila culture is a mixture of ancient Nepali and Indian culture as described in Ramayana and other Hindu literature.
