One lakh has been donated from the Film Workers Welfare Fund under the Film Development Board for the treatment of late actor BS Rana’s wife and daughter. On Wednesday, the fund committee went to Snehi Kakh in Lalitpur, where they are currently sheltered, and provided support. Chairman of the Board Bhuwan KC and Coordinator of Welfare Fund Bashundhara Bhushal handed over the funds.
During the handing over of cooperation, the newly elected president of Nepal Film Artists Association Mohan Niraula, actress and director Deepashree Niraula, the president of Movie Conflict Artists Association Narayan Pradhan, the outgoing president of the Artists Association Ravindra Khadka, the newly elected vice president of the Artists Association Kavita Gelal, the co-treasurer of the association Pavitra Acharya and others were present.
While handing over the support, Chairman KC said that as the necessary funds for the relief fund have not yet been collected, even if there is a desire, it is not possible to provide a large amount of support. He said, ‘If we had enough money, we could have helped with our hearts. Apart from the fund, there is no situation where the board can provide financial support separately. We do not have that jurisdiction.’
Informing that the former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has assured to take initiatives to collect funds in the fund, President Bhuvan KC expressed confidence that a significant amount will be added to the fund on behalf of the state. Stating that he had also met the then Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba when he came as the president, he pointed out the need for the state to give special interest to the artists.
On February 15, Rana’s wife and daughter were rescued from Goldhunga by Snehi Kakh and admitted to the hospital for treatment. Various individuals and organizations are collecting financial support for their treatment. A few days ago, 380,000 collected on the initiative of actor Savin Shrestha and US resident Suresh Darpan Pokharel were handed over to Rana’s family.
