Sandeep’s five wicket haul restricts PNG to 95 hauls

KATHMANDU, March 13 – In the third match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 played at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground, Nepal won the toss and chose to play Papua New Guinea (PNG) first.

Nepal’s star bowler Sandeep Lamichhane took five wickets while Lalit Rajbansi and Kushal Malla claimed two each, restricting PNG to 95 runs in 32 overs. In response, Nepal have to chase a modest target of 96 to win the match.

In their previous match, Nepal had won against the United Arab Emirates by 177 runs, securing their One Day International (ODI) status. Nepal currently sits fourth on the scoreboard with 36 points after playing 34 matches, while PNG is at the bottom with 11 points from 34 matches.
