Elections will be held for the selection of the new working committee of the Film Artists Association on the 4th of Chaitra. Since the announcement of the election date, artists have been announcing their candidacy for various positions including the chairman. Before the registration of nominations on Saturday, there were only 5 aspirants for the post of president. However, only Mohan Niraula and Regina Upreti (Pokharel) have registered their candidature.
When the current presidents Ravindra Khadka, Savin Shrestha and Sushant Kumar Shrestha, who expressed aspirations for the presidency, withdrew, the competition between Mohan and Regina is about to begin. Mohan is the current vice-president and spokesperson of the association, while Regina is the current women’s vice-president. As the elections are approaching, both of them are working on a strategy to win. There has been an increase in artists opening up in favor of both on social media.
Similarly, Dhan Bahadur Bamjan (DB), Kavita Gelal, Shivahari Nepal, Sarita Giri, Pawan Prasad Khatiwada (Baba), Tej Kumari Khatiwada and Bishnu Prasad Rizal have registered their candidature for the post of Vice President. Sanjay Khatiwada, Dharmanand Acharya, Savin Shrestha, Panah Adhikari and Uttam KC have nominated themselves as general secretary. Leaving the aspirations of the president, Savin is going to run for the general secretary.
Rameshwar Burlakoti and Jeevan Thapa have been nominated for secretary, Vinod Kumar Bhattarai and Sunil Katuwal for treasurer, Rohit Rumba and Pavitra Acharya for co-treasurer. Similarly, 26 people have nominated for 12 members. The election committee of the association has informed that the protest on the candidacy will be held on Falgun 28th and the final list of candidates will be published on Chaitra 1st.
