In fact, Hollywood director Ridley Scott wanted to cast Nana Patekar in his film Body of Lies, but he turned down the offer saying that he did not want to play a terrorist. And when Anurag Kashyap was asked why he never worked with Nana Patekar? On this, he says that they have often discussed about working together. Anurag told that producer Chris Smith needed someone like Nana for a role in the film The Pool. For this, he reached out to Anurag for help.

Nana Patekar turned down the role
Nana Patekar fit perfectly in the reference picture that Chris Smith showed to Anurag. After which Anurag himself went to Nana with the proposal of this film. Nana agreed to work in the film. The film also won an award at the Sundance Film Festival. Oscar winner Ridley Scott was also impressed by Nana’s work in this film. Anurag said, “Ridley Scott saw The Pool, and sent me an email. He wanted to cast Nana Patekar to play Mark Strong in Body of Lies. I went to Nana, told him that Ridley Scott wanted him to do his film. Want to take in. To which Nana said, “Terrorist ka role hai, nahi karna”. Body of Lies is a 2008 spy thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe in the lead roles.
