KATHMANDU, February 2 – Nanuka Adhikari, wife of Prem Prasad Acharya, who blew himself up more than a week ago, has expressed serious concern over the disclosure of his bank details. Already mourning the tragic loss of her husband, she said the spread of misinformation about her bank details on social media has added to the mental pressure. “The viral spread of screenshots of my bank details on social media has been quite disturbing,” she said.
Acharya also said that he was not aware of the donations being deposited into his bank account. Currently, she is performing the 13-day death rituals of her husband Acharya in her home district of Ilam. “My husband did not resort to self-immolation waiting for the rain of donations. The flooded messages and posts on social sites have given me mental pressure. This has added to my sorrows,” she said.
Acharya also said that he personally has not urged people to deposit money into his bank account. Funds may have been deposited in the form of support. But I’m being misunderstood on social sites.”
He said he would file a complaint against the bank and its employees in Kathmandu for violating his privacy by allowing his bank details to be made public.
