Like in other countries, like to hear and see action taken against high-ranking people: MP Shahi

The chief whip of the ruling Rashtriya Prajatantra Party, Gyanendra Bahadur Shahi, has demanded that high-ranking people involved in corruption scandals in Nepal should be jailed with imprisonment.

Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Saturday, he objected that although the voice of corruption is heard everywhere in the House, on the streets, on social media, there is no action taken anywhere. Chief Whip Shahi mentioned that the future of the youth has been ruined due to corruption and said that strict action should be taken against the corrupt to free them from it.

He said, ‘Today, the corruption files are sitting in the drawer of the authority. We made the Authority Misuse Prevention Commission into the Authority Abuse Investigation Commission. But instead of controlling corruption, the authority was limited to investigations. That’s why – the noise of big corruption scandals heats up the streets. heard in the House. But the corrupt cannot be seen or heard being punished anywhere. Every day in newspapers, social networks, online media, corruption is written on our and your mobile phones. And, they are also printed. But the concerned body is sitting blindfolded with oil in its ears, Mr. Speaker. That’s why only small fish get caught in the net, big fish get caught. How long will this be, Mr. Speaker? All young people like us, the future of the whole country has been ruined today due to corruption. We want to hear and see – former presidents, former prime ministers and incumbent prime ministers or high-ranking officials of other countries have been jailed and prosecuted in corruption cases.

Chief Whip Shahi also expressed his displeasure that the Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission only conducts investigations instead of prosecuting the corrupt.
