30th Poush, Surkhet. CPN-UML has nominated Nanda Gurung from Surkhet as the Speaker of Karnali Province. The meeting of UML provincial leaders on Saturday finalized the name of Gurung for the Speaker.
The meeting has finalized the name of Nanda Gurung comrade from Surkhet. Preparations are being made to reach the provincial assembly and present their candidature in the next few days,’ said one of the UML MPs who participated in the meeting.
Gurung from Surkhet is proportional MP. In the division of the ruling party, the speaker of Karnali is part of the UML, while the deputy speaker is part of the CPN-Maoist Center.
In the 40-member Karnali Provincial Assembly, there are 14 MPs from the Nepali Congress, 13 from the Maoist Center, 10 from the CPN-UML, one each from the CPN United Socialist Party, RPP and Independent.
