Manchester United 3-1 Everton: FA Cup third round – it’s done

Major events

Jamie Jackson’s match report has arrived, so I’ll be on my way. Thanks for your company and emails; Night!

Frank Lampard’s verdict

[Did you deserve better?] I think so. The players were very good in the sense of organization, in the sense of gameplan, work ethic, unity – the fundamentals in football, but people question them when you have a performance and a result like we did the other night.

We were really good. I need to analyze the game but I think we had good chances. Marcus Rashford was the difference between the teams; Top personal talent can help you do that.

It’s not under my control [whether he gets sacked], it’s not a focus for me. Our focus is the next game against Southampton. This league can change quickly. When you are having a hard time you need to work really hard to get out of it. Image may change.

[Has tonight enhanced your chances of keeping the job?] I don’t want to go into it. I just want to talk about the players and how well they played. I’m not worried; My focus is on this team and the result against Southampton.

When players perform with the spirit of an Everton player, as they did tonight, the fans will respond. [positively] For that matter, even in defeat. That says a lot. I don’t want to hear too much about the fans in the football sense. Our game is at Goodison next week. We need to make the fans feel the same way about the team tonight, and then try and win the game.

Marcus Rashford speaks

It probably goes with the best goalscoring form of my career. I feel good on the pitch. I’m getting into positions and areas to score, and if we keep creating chances I feel by the minute I’ll keep scoring. We want to reach the final and win the trophy. Hopefully we’ll get a chance to do that.

Full time: Man United 3-1 Everton

Sneak peek! Manchester United Into the last 32 after an entertaining win over Everton, their seventh in a row in all competitions. Marcus Rashford again scored two excellent assists and an injury time penalty. He is playing remarkably well, with a level of confidence that was unimaginable this time last year.

Everton contributed plenty in a more open game, and a second equalizing goal was disallowed for spandex-tight offside. It wasn’t the kind of performance that should get a manager the sack, though you never know these days.

Rashford runs the ball, maintained eye contact with Pickford for as long as possible and then passed the ball into the bottom-right corner. Well done.

That does it.

United got out of trouble, with two excellent passes from McTominay and Fred releasing Fernandes into space. He played at Garnacho, who was brought in by Godfrey. A mild punishment, but a punishment nonetheless.

90+5 minutes: Penalty to Man United!

90+4 minutes Fernandes brilliantly controls a long ball on the edge of the area but then flicks a shot well wide with the outside of his right foot.

90+3 minutes Rashford nearly added a goal to his two assists. He received a through pass from McTominay, entered the area and was about to shoot when Godfrey made a superbly judged sliding tackle.

90+3 minutes ITV’s player of the match, yes, Marcus Rashford.

90+2 minutes McNeil wins a corner from the left Everton. Gray curls it beyond the far post to Godfrey, who fails to control the admittedly difficult ball. However he recovers it and puts in a decent cross that hits one of the many bodies at the far post and goes behind. Everton want a corner; They don’t understand.

90 minutes there will be six minutes of added time. Gray cuts in from the right and De Gea fires a low left-footed shot from the edge of the area that is held comfortably to his left.

89 minutes … and wobbles a decent free-kick tipped in by a leaping Pickford. It was straightforward enough to be a relatively easy save.

89 minutes The resulting free-kick is about 25 yards from goal, left of center. Rashford on the move…

87 minutes The corner is taken short and cleared, but United keep the ball alive and are booked for a lunge on Onana Martinez.

87 minutes Rashford makes a good run at United’s defense and heads home for a corner.

86 minutes Godfrey Martinez tries to get into the zone. Martinez gets himself between Godfrey and the ball and allows it to go out of play; Terrible defense.

85 minutes This is all Everton Now, though, they haven’t created anything since Calvert-Lewin’s disallowed goal.

83 min: Double substitution for Man Utd Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay replace Christian Eriksen and Antony. Perhaps that means switching to a 5-2-3 formation.

82 minutes One thing that was abundantly clear from this game was that Frank Lampard did not lose Everton Dressing room.

81 minutes: Everton Replacement Anthony Gordon and Dwight McNeil will replace Seamus Coleman and Vitalii Mykolenko; Two wings for two wings.

78 minutes It’s Everton’s best second-half spell, by a distance, and United look a little frantic defensively. In unrelated news, Fred came in for Casemiro a few minutes ago.

76 min: Man United substitutions United’s victory hero Lisandro Martinez Tyrell comes on for Malaysia. Shaw moves left-back.

No goals! Man United 2-1 Everton

was gray in part Offside in the build-up, and VAR has intervened. It’s a shame because it was a good goal.

Calvert-Lewin started the move with a clever flick on Gray on the right. He volleyed Coleman behind the infield and charged down the wing for a return; He was offside at the time. Once he got into the area, Gray crossed for Malaysia and Calvert-Lewin cleverly hammered a cross into the net.

Goal! Man United 2-2 Everton (Calvert-Lewin 73)

Dominique Calvert-Lewin equalizes after Demarai Gray’s excellent play!

70 minutes: Manchester United Replacement Fred and Alejandro Garnacho replaced Casemiro and Anthony Martial. That means Rashford will move on.

69 minutes: Everton Replacement Neil Maupe is replaced by Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who scored a late equalizer at this ground in a 3-3 draw a few years ago.

68 minutes “Many thanks to Simon Gill for the excellent recommendation,” says Justin Madson. “My Google search shows me that not only is he right about the cold remedy, it is highly recommended as a cure for hangovers – something very difficult to cure. Everton Fans may also want to bookmark this recipe, as Man U scored as I typed this.

“Thanks also to Joe Pearson for the official soup MBM, though I’m sad I have to read Chelsea’s Tie with Forrest to find the info. And to Jeff Sachs for the chicken tip – I’ve had chicken-based soups, so I’ve come to the best soup recommenders in the business for some new ones. . Maybe Darwin Nunez could do with the bowl.”

67 minutes Ducor is booked for a foul on Rashford. He dived on Rashford and gave the referee an imaginary yellow card. Replays are inconclusive but I think Ducor caught him.

66 minutes Eriksen gives the free-kick to Short Fernandes, who crosses a long-range drive which is tipped over the bar by a leaping Pickford. A good strike but a straight enough save.

65 minutes Rashford slows Ducour, then nutmegs him and is fouled. He is playing with stratospheric confidence.

65 minutes “It’s too bad it’s only in the third round,” says Kerry Tulinius. “If it’s the last one Conor Cody will join Billy the White Horse and Stanley Matthews. The FA Cup The last name is named after him.

Don’t forget the man who made Ricky Villa’s goal possible.

64 min: Multiple chances for Everton! That was really close to even. Coleman collected a loose ball on the right side of the area and drove a low cross-shot which was well cleared by the stretching De Gea. The ball rebounded to Mykolenko, whose slightly subdued follow-up was cleared off the line by Dalot.

63 minutes Brad Wilson says, “I just opened my chicken noodle soup before work… and lost my appetite after Alex Iwobi was wheeled off the stretcher.” “He’s been one of the few highlights for Evertonian this season. Bad luck follows Toffee like a black cat.”

62 minutes Fernandes dances past some defenders in the area, but he can’t find the angle of the shot so the ball goes back to Antoni. He is crowded outside.

61 minutes A case has been registered against Godfrey for biting Rashford’s leg.

60 minutes Overlapping Dalot wins a corner from Gueye. United were really good from half time, with very good tempo in their passing. Nothing comes from the corner.

58 minutes “You’re being sacked in the morning,” rings around Old Trafford. There isn’t an entirely PC context about Lampard’s time at Stamford Bridge.

For what it’s worth – bugger all – I wouldn’t sack Lampard. I think he’s done L In a very difficult situation.

58 minutes “I’m worried about Mary Waltz,” says Jeff Sachs. “She’s very calm.”

He is allowed one day off, especially since he is not employed by the Guardian.

57 minutes Marshall gets past Onana, who makes a great recovery tackle on the edge of the area. United are currently on top.

54 minutes Rashford and Dalot find Anthony, whose low shot from 20 yards is straight at Pickford.

Marcus Rashford is therefore very hot right now He received a crossfield pass from Eriksen on the left and charged straight at the backpedaling Coleman. Once he was inside the area he moved Coleman out, in and then out again – the sound of a twisted blood klaxon – before ramming a low cross from the byline that the stretching Cody turned into his own net. Cody had to go for it, because he didn’t know what was behind him. It was another devastatingly sharp burst from Rashford, who is playing as well as anyone in England right now.

Everton's Conor Cody scored an own goal to make it 2-1.
