The second edition of ‘Nepal Rural Film Festival’, which was organized in Laprak, Gorkha in Baisakh last year, will be held at Bhakundebesi in Kavrepalanchok. On Monday, a press conference was organized at Banepa in Kavre and it was informed that the festival will be held from 25th to 27th of Jestha. Raghunath Sapkota, head of the organizing organization Celebrity Nepal, said that 26 films will participate in the festival.
Film registration was opened last Falgun for the festival in which films made on only Nepali original and rural stories will participate. The festival will screen indigenous feature and short films, documentaries and language films made in the village environment. Sapkota informed that awards will be given to the best films screened at the festival.
At the press conference, Raghunath said, ‘The main objective of the festival is to attract the audience to original Nepali films, to make them habit of watching Nepali films regularly, to promote the local language, art, culture and tourism. This edition will be bigger and organized than the previous one. The cost of the three-day festival in collaboration with the Film Development Board is estimated at 15 lakhs.
