Actor Pradeep Khadka won the best actor award for the first time. In the sixth edition of the Nepal International Film Festival (NIF) held from Chaitra 2 to 6, he was declared the best actor for the film ‘Prakash’. Along with him, Diya Maskey has been declared the best actress for this film. In this film, they both played the role of mother and son.
Pradeep said he was happy to win the best actor award for the first time. He said, ‘I am surprised to receive the award. It’s been 7/8 years since I started doing films. I have not received the best actor award yet. I got some awards as ‘star’. However, the reason why I published ‘Prakash’ was to be appreciated as an artist. I am happy to receive the award.’
Similarly, ‘Aaina Jhyalko Putli’ won the best feature film award. For this film, Sujith Vidari was declared the best director and the screenwriter award also went to him. Dinesh Khatri also received Jury Award from this film. Namrata Shrestha, Priyanka Karki and other artists were present at the closing ceremony of the festival which lasted for 5 days.
95 films from 35 countries participated in the festival and the films were screened in various halls of QFX, the country’s largest multiplex chain. In addition, discussions were held with Nepali and foreign filmmakers on various topics every day. President of Nepal International Film Festival KP Pathak said that this year’s festival is grander than the previous edition.
