Sridhar Paudel, who has made a proud name in photo journalism, is also known as a film producer. The film ‘Gopi’, which won the National Award, was his first production. Although the film was not commercially successful, the subject in which he dared to invest was commendable in itself. The film depicts about the problems faced by farmers and showed the potential in animal husbandry.
On the other hand, the second film ‘Bahav’ produced by Paudel is going to be released from Chaitra 24th. Director and writer Pramod Kandel narrated the script to him in the first stage. He felt the script was different and eager to invest. Sridhar remembers, ‘after listening to the script, the story felt different. And I joined as a producer because I felt that this story is important to tell.’
Actress Suraksha Pant plays the lead role in the film. Looking at the trailer, it seems that the flame of rebellion is burning in her. Producer Paudel believes that Suraksha is presented in a different way from previous films. And her lover, rebel and madness will impress the audience. Sridhar is fully confident that the audience will feel a sense of belonging because ‘Bahav’ has picked up the story of every Nepali’s home.
He says that he tried to present what he learned while making his first film ‘Gopi’ in ‘Bahaav’. Asserting that the film was made according to the story told by the director, he goes on to say, ‘I agree with the story that the director-writer wants to tell and am also ‘convinced’. I think that being ‘convinced’ means that the film will also ‘convince’ those who have an ideology like mine,’ says Paudel.
Sridhar, who has a long experience in photojournalism in media organizations including ABC Television, Naya Patrika Dainik, Kantipur Dainik, Online Khabar and Friday Weekly, has been running an online entertainment project called ‘My Film’ for the past few years. Poudel has also done poster photography for many Nepali films and commercial advertisements.
Along with security, ‘Bahav’ also stars Kamal Mani Nepal, Afran Ali, Surya Sharma Bhatt, Ishwari Singh, Hiralal Kandel and Pawan Shrestha. Edited by Sujan Badal, music by Vasant Sapkota, Sushant Gautam and Rikesh Gurung, the film has vocals by Saja Chaulagai, color correction by Anant Ghimire, sound design and mixing by Mukesh Shah and cinematography by Kartikeya Smitha Karnataka.
