KATHMANDU, March 2 – Nepal’s under-19 cricket team secured their spot in the 2024 World Cup in Sri Lanka by beating the United Arab Emirates by six runs in a match between Nepal and the United Arab Emirates ( UAE) in ICC Asian Qualifier for the U-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. It is the first time Nepal has qualified for the Cup after 2016.
Batting first Nepal had set themselves a target of 192 runs. United Arab Emirates, meanwhile, scored 185 runs in an all-wicket loss in 48 overs.
The international 50+ tournament involved sixteen teams. Out of these sixteen teams, eleven teams have secured their place in the 2024 World Cup by being the highest ranked full member nations in the previous edition of the tournament held in 2022. These eleven teams are Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Ireland, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Zimbabwe.
