KATHMANDU, February 7 – Lawyer Bimal Prasad Pokharel has filed a court petition with the Supreme Court demanding that Sher Bahadur Deuba, the Speaker of the Nepali Congress, be given no accommodation as leader of the opposition party.
The hearing in the case is now scheduled for Wednesday.
The petitioner has argued that a party that supports the government cannot be an opposition party, therefore its leader should not enjoy facilities as an opposition party.
Earlier, the Nepali Congress, which is supposed to be the main opposition party, had given Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal its vote of confidence.
