kyiv, February 5: Dozens of Russian and Ukrainian soldiers have been freed after a latest prisoner swap, officials on both sides confirmed Saturday.
Andriy Yermak, head of the Ukrainian president’s office, said in a Telegram post that 116 Ukrainians have returned home, while Russia’s state news agency TASS said 63 Russian servicemen have been released.
Yermak also said that Russia returned to Ukraine the bodies of two British volunteer aid workers and a Ukrainian International Legion volunteer soldier.
The exchange came after a deal brokered by the United Arab Emirates, marking one of the largest prisoner exchanges between the warring parties since the start of the conflict.
As of early January, more than 3,000 Ukrainian soldiers remained captive in Russia.
