Kathmandu, February 1
Prashant Bikram Malla, acting secretary of the national cricket governing body, Nepal Cricket Association (MAY), has resigned from his position over the Nepal T20 League controversy.
Malla submitted his resignation to the association’s central meeting currently underway in Pokhara, a member reports.
Previously, seven members of the 19-member committee had demanded the resignation de Malla among five senior officials, including the president of the CAN, Chatur Bahadur Chand. Apart from holding a press conference to demand the resignation in Kathmandu, the members also presented their demand to Chand during yesterday’s meeting.
Malla chaired the governing council of the The Nepal T20 League, which has been embroiled in controversy upon point fixing charges.
Meanwhile, the event’s strategic partner Seven3Sports, which was allegedly involved in the venue arrangement, says it has canceled the contract signed with the Nepal Cricket Association.
