Coronavirus in China: There is an atmosphere of panic in China due to the new variant of Corona. The system of hospitals has completely collapsed. Meanwhile, the World Health Organization has expressed concern over the insufficient data released by China regarding the rapidly spreading cases of corona. The World Health Organization (WHO) said on Wednesday that the data released by China shows that more people are becoming infected with Omicron’s sub-variants BA.5.2 and BF.7.

WHO expressed concern over lack of data
The World Health Organization (WHO) said that the data released by China regarding Kovid was based on the analysis of genome sequencing. WHO has reiterated the need and importance of sharing sequence data as well as additional analysis to understand the origin of COVID-19 and associated mutations or variants. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the agency recently met with Chinese officials to share more information on issues surrounding COVID-19, including hospitalization rates and genetic sequences.
WHO insisted on additional data
Tedros said at a press briefing, “Data related to Kovid is necessary for WHO to assess the global situation and strong risk.” Tedros said that he understands why many countries have recently taken steps regarding travelers coming from China. WHO emergency chief Dr. Michael Ryan said that the Kovid protocols implemented by some countries were not restrictions against travel. This cannot be called a big measure to prevent infection.
Rapidly spreading infection in China
WHO’s Emergency Chief Dr. Michael Ryan further said that for the last three years strict restrictions were imposed in China regarding Kovid-19 but the results are somewhat different. He said the reality for China is that there is not enough information on which to base a risk assessment. Ryan said there are continuing concerns about how Chinese officials are recording coronavirus deaths. So far, cases of new variants of corona have come in 29 countries including America and there is a possibility of spreading in other countries as well.
