Kathmandu- The Film Development Board is going to publish the box office details on a monthly basis from the new year. Board President Bhuwan KC gave this information at the thanksgiving and congratulatory program held by the Movie Artists Association in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
In a conversation with Chairman KC said that he will publish the earnings of films on a monthly basis from Baisakh . In the nearly 60-year history of Nepali films, the board for the first time released the income details of 132 domestic and foreign films that were screened in 2079.
A discussion was called in the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology before the income was made public. KC said that in the discussion, it was decided to publish the earnings of the film on a regular basis and accordingly the earnings have started to be published. After the instructions from the ministry, we have brought out the box office report. Now it will be regular on a monthly basis,” he said.
President KC also said at the event of the artists’ association, “We say we don’t have a film industry, but we make an excuse to pay the contribution to the state on behalf of the film industry.” We do the box office regularly and we also ask them to contribute.” Dissatisfaction has also started from the producers circle after the board released the box office details.
