MARCH 28: The ruling alliance is scheduled to call a meeting today at 4 pm to discuss the Cabinet expansion. The Prime Minister’s secretariat has confirmed that the meeting will focus solely on the matter.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress Speaker Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal met and agreed to hold a decisive meeting on Tuesday night.
Sources indicate that Prime Minister Dahal has proposed giving eight ministries to the Nepali Congress, including a minister of state, five ministries to the CPN (Maoist Center) including the post of Prime Minister, three ministries including a minister of state, to the Rastriya Swatantra Party and the CPN (United Socialist), and two ministries to the Janata Samajbadi Party.
The meeting is expected to lead to a resolution on the issue of Cabinet expansion, which has been a cause of concern for the ruling alliance.
