Actress Regina Upreti, who has registered her candidacy for the post of president in the elections of the Nepal Movie Artists Association, which is to be held on 4th of Chaitra, has announced her panel. She announced the agenda and panel while holding a press conference in Kathmandu on Wednesday. From her panel, Shivhari Nepal Bairagi and Sarita Giri are candidates for vice president and Panah Adhikari for general secretary.
Similarly, Jeevan Thapa is the secretary of Regina’s panel and Vinod Kumar Bhattarai is the treasurer while the members are Khushbu Khadka, Khinn Bhandari, Laxman Chaulagai, Ishwar Ballabh Upreti, Dil B. Dong, Ramkumar Karki, Rajesh Gosain, Neetu Koirala, Dinesh Awal, Nirmal Syangtan and Bhimsen Bajgai are candidates. She claims that this team will work well for the interests of artists.
She has been the vice-president of the association for two terms and has included initiatives to provide monthly pension allowance to senior artists who are over 70 years old, health treatment plan, welfare fund increase plan, branch expansion etc. in her election agenda. Saying that only things that can be worked on have been put on the agenda, Regina promised to complete those agendas.
She said, ‘This time, we have progressed even more than me in the Film Actors’ Association. I have risen to the presidency with the determination that we will all work together as one. I have got veterans and friends who have done excellent work in Nepali films in my team. I also promise to fully implement all the commitments presented by our team after coming to the union.
Madandas Shrestha, Naresh Paudel, Rajendra Khadgi, Ramesh Upreti, Shavit Basnet, Palpsa Dangol and other artists were present at Regina’s panel announcement and commitment letter public event. From Shweta Khadka to Pooja Sharma as president, Regina has expressed her support through social media. Regina is competing with Mohan Niraula for the post of the president of the artists association.
