KATHMANDU, March 7: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that in the current era, sports are the pride of the nation, an important pillar of diplomacy, a solid pillar of international relations, the foundation of the national economy and a catalyst for the development of the culture of work and hard work.
The prime minister said this while speaking at the 16th Asian Cross Country Championships hosted by the Asian Athletics Association and hosted by the Nepal Athletics Association in Gokarna, Kathmandu on Tuesday morning.
The Prime Minister added that only those who can properly understand the importance of sports can properly lead the nation and address the aspirations of the people and that we should all be proud that the sports sector has become an important foundation for unity in diversity, good governance, sustainable development and prosperity.
The Prime Minister also said that through sports diplomacy, major wars and man-made disasters have been resolved, major conflicts and possible genocide have been avoided, and the foundations of mutual cooperation, trust, world unity and reunification have been laid and that the government prioritize the development of the sports sector.
