Nepalese Congress (NC) Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka has ruled out joining Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s government as a minister after the resurgence of the pre-election coalition.
Khadka, who worked very hard for the revival of the coalition, took to social media on Monday night and posted that he had not claimed anything and stated that it would be an injustice for him to discuss joining the government on social media/media . .
He has reiterated his long-standing resolution never to run for ministerial office, even as North Carolina lawmakers are pushing for Cabinet. Khadka, who has become a minister seven times, including interior minister twice, was last a minister 18 years ago.
He made the resolution never to become a minister seven years ago in Arghakhanchi. “I declared that I would never be a minister again at a party program in Arghakhanchi when I traveled across the country after resigning as NC assistant general secretary before the 13th general convention,” Khadka told Setopati. “I have become a minister many times in my life. I will not be a minister from today. I said now I will campaign to get others to minister.”
Khadka, who is very close to NC Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba and is widely seen as Deuba’s preferred successor to the top post, said the resolve is still unshakable. “My God, my fate and the blessings of the people are above the minister! He had finished my speech at Arghakhanchi by saying this. I’m still firm on that.”
Asked if he is preparing to become prime minister (PM) if he does not want to become a minister, he said: “There is no point in seeking the interpretation of that statement.”
