Nepal Congress (NC) chief whip Ramesh Lekhak has said that the big party will not immediately join the government. Lekhak asked to wait until the presidential election, adding that talks on joining the government will start after that.
The Nepal Congress (NC), CPN (Maoist Center), Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) and CPN (United Socialist) agreed to reactivate the pre-election coalition. Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP), Janamat Party, Rastriya Janamorcha and Nagarik Unmukti Party also joined the four parties and decided to support the NC candidate in the presidential election.
RPP resigned from the government after that, but CPN-UML has not yet left the government.
Lekhak has reasoned that UML can stay in the government until the presidential elections scheduled for March 9, adding that the process of incorporating NC into the government will start after that.
He also opined that Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal should re-test within 30 days after RPP withdrew its support for the government.
He has declared that the provincial governments will also be changed after the presidential election.
NC chose top leader Ram Chandra Paudel as the common coalition candidate for the presidential election
Lekhak has revealed that NC will also talk to other parties outside the eight-party alliance about the presidential election.
