Embassy of Nepal organizes cultural program in Egypt

KATHMANDU-February 24: In a bid to promote Nepalese tourism, the Nepalese embassy in Cairo, Egypt organized a cultural program at an exhibition on the El Sawy Cultural Wheel in Zamalek.

On the occasion, a video informing about Nepal was projected and various original and cultural programs were organized. The program took place on Wednesday and Thursday.

Similarly, the exhibition featured various booths set up by different countries, including Nepal, displaying their original and cultural materials.

Some 375 foreign visitors visited the stall set up by Nepal and took a close look at the Nepali artifacts, the Nepalese embassy said.

Materials such as the national flag of Nepal, statues of Pashupatinath, Gautama Buddha, rhinoceros and elephant, masks, khukuris, karuwa (a traditional Nepali vessel) and materials identifying the Buddhist religion were exhibited. Brochures and posters promoting Nepalese tourism were also distributed. Nepali students and communities offered their support for the cause.

There are about 300 Nepali students in Egypt, according to the embassy.

Other participating countries were Italy, Japan, Mexico, Pakistan, Palestine, Tajikistan, Portugal, Russia, Vietnam, Yemen, Spain, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Argentina, Thailand, the Czech Republic, Dominica, Ecuador, and Ghana.

Nepalese Ambassador to Egypt Sushil Kumar Lamsal and Egyptian government officials visited the exhibition.
