The government has decided to include the holidays of Prithvi Jayanti and the Maoist war (the so-called People’s War) in the annual calendar of holidays for Bikram Sambat 2080 from mid-April 2023.
Government spokesperson Rekha Sharma says a recent cabinet meeting made the decision.
This year, the government provided public holidays on both occasions on an ad-hoc basis, generating controversy in both cases. prithvi jayanti and the anniversary of the war.
But regardless of the controversy, the government institutionalized the vacation.
While the Prithvi Jayanti festival was announced after 15 years People’s War Day was announced as a national holiday for the first time in Nepal’s history this year.
