KATHMANDU, February 10: President Bidya Devi Bhandari is scheduled to address a joint meeting of the Federal Parliament at 3:00 this afternoon.
The Secretariat of the Federal Parliament said that preparations for President Bhandari’s speech have been completed.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is scheduled to present a copy of the President’s speech at the separate meetings of the House of Representatives (HoR) and the National Assembly.
According to the deputy spokesman of the Secretariat of the Federal Parliament, Dasharath Dhamala, the Federal Parliament would pass a vote of thanks to the president after the speech.
Article 95 of the Constitution of Nepal provides that the President may address the House or a joint session of both Houses of Parliament.
Similarly, Article 95(2) provides that the President shall address the first session after an election to the HoR and a joint session of both Houses of Parliament after the beginning of the first session of each year.
Currently, the first session of the HoR is held after the November 20, 2021 election.
